Tune-Up

Applicable to most lawnmowers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar equipment:

1. Inspect and Clean the Engine:

  • Remove dirt, debris, and grass from the engine, cooling fins, and air intake.
  • Check for loose or damaged parts.

2. Replace or Clean the Air Filter:

  •  Remove the air filter and inspect it
  •  Clean foam filters with soap and water, or replace paper filters if clogged or dirty

3. Change the Spark Plug:

  •  Remove the old spark plug and check for fouling or wear
  •  Install a new spark plug, gapped to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically 0025–0030 inches)

4. Lubricate Moving Parts:

  •  Apply lubricant to throttle cables, choke valves, or other moving parts as specified

5. Sharpen and Balance Blade(s)

Clean or Replace the Carburetor (if needed):

  1. Rebuild or replace if cleaning doesn’t resolve issues
  2. Drain and Refill Fuel:
    • Drain old or stale fuel from the tank and carburetor

Additional Services

  1. Inspect and Replace the Fuel Filter:
    • Check the in-line fuel filter for clogs
  2. Check and Change the Oil:
    • Drain old oil (for 4-stroke engines) and replace with fresh oil per the manufacturer’s recommended type and capacity
    • Check oil level with a dipstick or sight glass
  3. Inspect the Ignition System:
    • Check the spark plug wire and ignition coil for damage
    • Test for a strong spark; replace components if weak
  4. Belt Inspection and Replacement
